Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Ibaraki R. (2-15) was outscored by third ranked Shimane SM (12-5) in Mito 87-59 on Saturday. Shimane SM outrebounded Ibaraki R. 47-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. Australian Nick Kay (206-92, college: MSU Denver) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and American forward Reid Travis (203-95, college: Kentucky, agency: Pensack Sports) accounted for 19 points and 11 rebounds. Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) came up with 9 points and 7 rebounds and guard Atsunobu Hirao (178-89) added 13 points respectively for Ibaraki R. in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shimane SM moved-up to second place, which they share with Sea Horses M. Ibaraki R. lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Niigata A. and Kyoto H.. Shimane SM will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ibaraki R. will play again against Shimane SM (#3) and hope to secure a win.
