Regular Season Round 15: Al Sadd - Al Shamal 98-75

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Sadd (#4) and Al Shamal (#2). Al Sadd (4-2) crushed visiting Al Shamal (4-2) by 23 points 98-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Shamal. Al Sadd dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Al Shamal's 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Al Shamal's players. It was a good game for American guard Byron Ashe (186-95, college: Longwood) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 9 rebounds and 14 assists. Greek center Zisis Sarikopoulos (213-90, college: Ohio St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Al Sadd players scored in double figures. Serbian-Montenegrin forward Milko Bjelica (207-84) answered with 29 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) and American point guard Willie Warren (193-89, college: Oklahoma, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 14 assists in the effort for Al Shamal. Al Sadd moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Al Shamal. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
