Regular Season Round 17: Kagoshima - Chiba 79-81

The most exciting game of round 17 in the B3 League took place in Renova. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Kagoshima (11-5) to second ranked Chiba (14-2) 81-79 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Kagoshima. Chiba dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kagoshima's 36. American power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-93, college: Louisiana Coll.) answered with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Hiroshi Fujita (190-92) added 18 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) in the effort for Kagoshima. Four Kagoshima players scored in double figures. Kagoshima's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Chiba maintains second place with 14-2 record behind leader Nagasaki. Kagoshima at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Chiba are looking forward to face Yamaguchi (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kagoshima will play against Shizuoka (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
