Regular Season Round 16: Kagoshima - Chiba 84-80

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Chiba (14-2) against fifth ranked Kagoshima (11-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Chiba was defeated by Kagoshima in a tough game in Renova 80-84. Kagoshima made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Chiba outrebounded Kagoshima 42-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-93, college: Louisiana Coll.) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Point guard Aruma Hamada (178-97) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Kagoshima's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 26 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) added 25 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) in the effort for Chiba. Kagoshima have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 11-5 record. Newly promoted Chiba keeps the second place with two games lost. Kagoshima will again play against league's second-placed Chiba at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chiba will have a break next round.
