Regular Season Round 12: Al Shamal - Al Ahli 85-82

The most exciting game of round 12 in the D1 took place in Doha. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Al Ahli (2-2) to fifth ranked Al Shamal (3-1) 85-82 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Ahli. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Al Shamal had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Willie Warren (193-89, college: Oklahoma, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists and Serbian-Montenegrin forward Milko Bjelica (207-84) who added 24 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Bulgarian guard Earl Calloway (191-83, college: Indiana, agency: Network Sports International) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 assists and American forward Antwaine Wiggins (203-88, college: Charleston, agency: BIG) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Shamal moved-up to second place. Al Ahli at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Al Sadd. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
