There was a minor upset when 4th placed Yamagata (11-6) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Tokyo Z (2-16) 72-63 on Monday. Tokyo Z looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Haitian forward Marc-Eddy Norelia (203-93, college: FGCU, agency: Duran International) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. American center Joshua Crawford (211-88, college: Indiana St.) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Jawad Williams (204-83, college: UNC) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import center Kenny Lawson (207-88, college: Creighton) added 11 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. Yamagata's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tokyo Z maintains sixth place with 2-16 record. Loser Yamagata dropped to the third position with six games lost. They share it with Fukushima. Tokyo Z will meet Aomori W. (#7) on the road in the next round. Yamagata will play against the league's second-placed Nishinomiya S. (#2) in Hyogo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
