Regular Season Round 14: Saitama - Kanazawa 107-59

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Kanazawa (0-14) was outscored on the road by fifth ranked Saitama (10-6) 107-59 on Saturday. Saitama dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kanazawa's 36. They outrebounded Kanazawa 56-32 including a 40-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Saitama looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Kanazawa's players. American power forward Ryan Watkins (206-91, college: Boise St.) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) supported him with 30 points and 14 rebounds. Even a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds by power forward Blake Aoki (202-93) did not help to save the game for Kanazawa. Serbian forward Dusan Vicentic (204-97, college: WVWC) added 18 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Saitama maintains fifth position with 10-6 record. Loser Kanazawa still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
