Regular Season Round 13: Kanazawa - Gifu 60-94
Date: November 21, 2021
Bottom-ranked Kanazawa (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 94-60 loss to ninth ranked Gifu (6-8) in Ishikawa. Gifu outrebounded Kanazawa 44-17 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Kanazawa's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Jayce Johnson (213-97, college: Marquette) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Alex Floresca (203-96, college: San Diego) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Gifu players scored in double figures. Power forward Blake Aoki (202-93) answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Daichi Tomioka (165-95) added 7 points and 7 assists in the effort for Kanazawa. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gifu moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Tokyo HT. Kanazawa at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Gifu will play against Yamaguchi (#11) at home in the next round. Kanazawa will play against Saitama (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
