Regular Season Round 6: Al Sadd - Al Arabi 88-85

Important game to mention about took place in Doha. Top-ranked Al Sadd (2-0) saved a 3-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Al Arabi (1-1) 88-85 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Al Sadd players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American guard Byron Ashe (186-95, college: Longwood) notched a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists to lead the effort and Greek center Zisis Sarikopoulos (213-90, college: Ohio St.) supported him with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Even a double-double of 26 points, 19 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field) by American forward Nick West (210-94, college: AAMU) did not help to save the game for Al Arabi. Point guard Christian Casas added 16 points and 7 assists. Five Al Sadd and four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Al Sadd keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Gharafa. Al Arabi at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Al Shamal and Al Khor. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
