Regular Season Round 13: Aisin AW - Yokohama EX 57-63

There was a minor upset in Aichi where 10th ranked Aisin AW (5-7) was defeated by twelfth ranked Yokohama EX (2-10) 63-57 on Saturday. Strangely Aisin AW outrebounded Yokohama EX 44-28 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Canadian forward Mamadou Gueye (201-93, college: Alberta) stepped up and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and American Isaac Copeland (206-95, college: Nebraska) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: CPP) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Yokohama EX maintains twelfth place with 2-10 record. Loser Aisin AW keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. Yokohama EX will meet at home higher ranked Kagoshima (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aisin AW will play against Tokyo HT (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
