Regular Season Round 13: Chiba - Saitama 94-63

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Saitama (8-6) was outplayed on the road by third ranked Chiba (11-1) 94-63 on Friday. Chiba dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama's 40. They outrebounded Saitama 45-24 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chiba looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds for the winners and power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Chiba players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Ryan Watkins (206-91, college: Boise St.) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Chiba have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Chiba maintains third place with 11-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Iwate. Loser Saitama dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Chiba will meet at home league's leader Iwate in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Saitama will play against Kanazawa (#15) and hope to secure a win.
