Regular Season Round 13: Kagoshima - Shinagawa 82-53
Date: November 19, 2021
Everything went according to plan in Renova where sixth ranked Kagoshima (8-4) outleveled 12th ranked Shinagawa (2-12) 82-53 on Friday. Kagoshima forced 24 Shinagawa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Christian Cunningham (201-97, college: JSU) stepped up and scored 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-93, college: Louisiana Coll.) chipped in 18 points. At the losing side forward Abu Philip (198-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) scored 3 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Kagoshima have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Okayama. Shinagawa lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Kagoshima will meet Yokohama EX (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Shinagawa will play against Toyoda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
