An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sendai. Third ranked Sendai 89ers faced 4th ranked Yamagata. Host Sendai 89ers (8-5) defeated guests from Yamagata (9-4) 67-61. Worth to mention a great performance of American Devin Oliver (204-92, college: Dayton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import center Jerome Meyinsse (208-88, college: Virginia) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Kenny Lawson (207-88, college: Creighton) with 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Yoshifumi Nakajima (176-90) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Sendai 89ers went down to fourth position due to points difference, which they share with Fukushima. Loser Yamagata dropped to the second place with four games lost. They share the position with Nishinomiya S.. Sendai 89ers will again meet at home higher ranked Yamagata (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Yamagata will have a break next round.
