Regular Season Round 11: Shinagawa - Shizuoka 57-82
Date: November 12, 2021
There was no surprise when 12th ranked Shinagawa (2-10) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Shizuoka (8-2) 82-57 on Friday. Shizuoka made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Shizuoka outrebounded Shinagawa 42-30 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: CMU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-88, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 19 points and 6 rebounds. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. Forward Abu Philip (198-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Shizuoka. They maintain fourth place with 8-2 record. Shinagawa lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
