Regular Season Round 9: Caspiy Aktau - Aktobe 57-63

The biggest surprise of round 9 in National League was guest Aktobe's (#4) road victory over Caspiy Aktau (#5) 63-57 on Thursday evening. Aktobe forced 26 Caspiy Aktau turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Anton Ponomarev (210-88, agency: BeoBasket) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Davrius Wright (196-93) chipped in 15 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Valeriy Simonov (187-2) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and center Semyon Pinaev (208-99) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Caspiy Aktau's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aktobe maintains fourth place with 2-5 record. Caspiy Aktau at the other side stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Aktobe will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Caspiy Aktau will play again at home against Aktobe (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
