Regular Season Round 11: Tokyo Z - Nishinomiya S. 71-77

Very predictable result when second ranked Nishinomiya S. (8-3) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Tokyo Z (0-11) 77-71 on Wednesday. Nishinomiya S. shot 27 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Tokyo Z only scored nine points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was American forward DeQuan Jones (203-90, college: Miami, FL) who scored 26 points. Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Five Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. Nishinomiya S.'s coach Mathias Fischer used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Joshua Crawford (211-88, college: Indiana St.) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and American-Haitian forward Marc-Eddy Norelia (203-93, college: FGCU, agency: Duran International) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Nishinomiya S.. They maintain second place with 8-3 record behind leader Kagawa FA, which they share with Koshigaya A. and Yamagata. Tokyo Z lost their eleventh game in a row. They still close the standings with 11 games lost. Nishinomiya S. will meet at home Fukushima (#5) in the next round.
