Regular Season Round 5: Champville - Byblos 90-52
Date: November 9, 2021
Rather expected game in Dik El Mehdi where 9th ranked Byblos (1-4) were crushed by sixth ranked Champville (3-1) 90-52 on Tuesday. Champville dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Byblos' 22. Champville forced 20 Byblos turnovers and outrebounded them 48-26 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Byblos' players. The best player for the winners was American guard Omar Jamaleddine (193, college: SLC) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. The former international point guard Miguel Martinez (188-88) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Five Champville players scored in double figures. Forward William Sawan (201-98) produced 12 points and forward Toufic Sakr (182-99) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Champville. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Beirut Club and Sagesse. Loser Byblos keep the ninth position with four games lost.
