Regular Season Round 9: Saga B. - Kagawa FA 78-85

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Saga B. (4-5) was defeated at home by first ranked Kagawa FA (7-2) 85-78 on Saturday. Australian center Angus Brandt (208-89, college: Oregon St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Australian forward Rhys Vague (206-96) chipped in 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Kagawa FA players scored in double figures. Kagawa FA's coach Yuichi Ishikawa used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) with 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 8 assists and American center Garrett Stutz (214-90, college: Wichita St.) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kagawa FA. They maintain first place with 7-2 record, which they share with Sendai 89ers. Loser Saga B. dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Fukuoka R.. Kagawa FA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Saga B. will play again against the league's leader Kagawa FA (#1) and hope to secure a win.
