Regular Season Round 9: Iwate - Yokohama EX 76-75

Bottom-ranked Yokohama EX (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 76-75 loss to leader Iwate (9-0) in Iwate on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. American Kyle Richardson (200-91, college: Portland St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Terrance King (198-90, college: ESU) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds. Four Iwate players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American Isaac Copeland (206-95, college: Nebraska) with 25 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian forward Mamadou Gueye (201-93, college: Alberta) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Iwate. They moved-up to second place. Yokohama EX lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Iwate will again meet at home bottom-ranked Yokohama EX (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Yokohama EX will have a break next round.
