Regular Season Round 9: Kumamoto V. - Nishinomiya S. 90-92

The biggest surprise of round 9 was guest Nishinomiya S.'s (6-3) road victory over second-best Kumamoto V. (5-4) 92-90 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Nishinomiya S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward DeQuan Jones (203-90, college: Miami, FL) who scored 31 points. His fellow American import Shaquille Hines (203-93, college: UTRGV) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman LJ Peak (196-96, college: Georgetown, agency: Pensack Sports) who recorded 32 points and 9 rebounds and British forward Benjamin Lawson (216-95, college: WKU) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Nishinomiya S. moved-up to second place, which they share with Koshigaya A. and Yamagata. Kumamoto V. at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Fukushima. Nishinomiya S. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kumamoto V. will play again at home against the league's second-placed Nishinomiya S. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
