Regular Season Round 9: Saitama - Nagasaki 78-90

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Saitama. Leader Nagasaki faced 4th placed Saitama. Guests from Nagasaki (10-0) defeated host Saitama (6-4) 90-78. Strangely Saitama outrebounded Nagasaki 41-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Matt Bonds (196-95, college: St.Michael's, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 5 rebounds. American-Panamanian center Javier Carter (203-91, college: USA, agency: Slash Sports) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Nagasaki players scored in double figures. American power forward Ryan Watkins (206-91, college: Boise St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 20 rebounds and the other American import center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Saitama. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Nagasaki. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains first place with 10-0 record. Saitama at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
