Regular Season Round 9: Shinagawa - Chiba 60-101

No shocking result in a game when leader Chiba (8-0) smashed on the road 11th ranked Shinagawa (2-8) 101-60 on Friday. Chiba dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Shinagawa's 42. They outrebounded Shinagawa 46-19 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Chiba looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Shinagawa's players. American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Five Chiba players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Shogo Taira (170-97) with 10 points and 4 assists and forward Abu Philip (198-97) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Chiba. Newly promoted Chiba maintains third place with 8-0 record having 2 victories less than leader Nagasaki. Shinagawa lost their fourth game in a row. Shinagawa at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the twelfth position with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
