Everything went according to plan in Kariya where second ranked Sea Horses M. (7-2) beat 11th ranked Ibaraki R. (1-8) 81-71 on Wednesday. Sea Horses M. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was power forward Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Kyle Collinsworth (198-91, college: BYU) chipped in 8 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Four Sea Horses M. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists and Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Ibaraki R.'s coach Richard Glesmann rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Sea Horses M. have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Ryukyu GK and Hiroshima D. Newly promoted Ibaraki R. keeps the eleventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with Toyama G.. Sea Horses M. will meet Yokohama BC (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ibaraki R. will play against Osaka E. (#8) and hope to win that game.
