Twentieth-ranked Blue Whales (0-5) gave a tough game to top-ranked Guandong Tigers (5-0) in Dongguan on Tuesday. Guandong Tigers managed to secure only three-point victory 111-108. However their fans expected much easier game. Guandong Tigers outrebounded Blue Whales 55-41 including 19 on the offensive glass. The former international point guard Mingxuan Hu (191-98) scored 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international point guard Jie Xu (183-0) chipped in 24 points and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Honghan Li (193-95) with 26 points and Zhang Dianliang (-97) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Four Guandong Tigers and five Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Guandong Tigers have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 5-0 record. Blue Whales at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Bayi Rockets. Guandong Tigers are looking forward to face Aviators (#6) in Shenzhen in the next round where they are favorite. Blue Whales will play at home against Pioneers (#15) and hope to get finally their first victory.
