Regular Season Round 7: Nishinomiya S. - Saga B. 78-81

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Saga B. (4-3) edged 3rd placed Nishinomiya S. (4-3) in Hyogo 81-78 on Saturday. Saga B. made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Saga B. outrebounded Nishinomiya S. 47-30 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Garrett Stutz (214-90, college: Wichita St.) accounted for 16 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side. Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) added 12 points and 7 assists respectively for Nishinomiya S. in the defeat. Four Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Saga B. moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Nishinomiya S. Saga B. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nishinomiya S. will play again against Saga B. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
