Regular Season Round 4: Fujian S. - Sichuan BW 109-103

There was no surprise in Jinjiang where bottom-ranked Blue Whales (0-3) were defeated by tenth ranked Sturgeons (2-1) 109-103 on Friday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Strangely Blue Whales outrebounded Sturgeons 58-35 including a 43-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Chen Linjian (197-93) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and center Huang Yi (207-99) who added 12 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals during the contest. Sturgeons' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international point guard Shuo Han (196-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 9 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals and Chen Chen (201-85) scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Four Sturgeons and five Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Sturgeons moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Blue Whales at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Bayi Rockets. Sturgeons will meet Aviators (#9) in the next round. Blue Whales will play against Ducks (#6) and hope to get finally their first victory.
