Regular Season Round 5: Okayama - Kagoshima 90-99

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Okayama (2-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Kagoshima (3-2) 99-90. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Okayama. Kagoshima forced 20 Okayama turnovers. American swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-93, college: Louisiana Coll.) stepped up and scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Kodai Takahashi (180-91) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. American forward Chris Olivier (202-92, college: OK State) responded with 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: FAU) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Four Kagoshima and five Okayama players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kagoshima have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Gifu. Okayama at the other side dropped to the eighth position with one game lost. Kagoshima will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Okayama will play again at home against Kagoshima (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
