Regular Season Round 5: FE Nagoya - Yamagata 71-58

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked FE Nagoya as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Yamagata) loss. FE Nagoya defeated leader Yamagata at home 71-58. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Yamagata. It was a key game for the top position in the league. FE Nagoya players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) nailed 16 points for the winning side and naturalized American Luke Evans (203-91, college: CBU) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four FE Nagoya players scored in double figures. American center Kenny Lawson (207-88, college: Creighton) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and guard Yoshifumi Nakajima (176-90) added 7 points and 7 assists respectively for Yamagata in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Kumamoto V. and Yamagata. Yamagata will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. FE Nagoya will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Yamagata at home.
