Regular Season Round 4: Saga B. - Sendai 89ers 80-84

There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Sendai 89ers (2-2) won against on the road their close opponent Saga B. (2-2) 84-80 on Sunday. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) who scored that evening 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Keita Sawabe (184-95) supported him with 18 points. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 27 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists by British forward Myles Hesson (198-90) did not help to save the game for Saga B.. Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) added 19 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sendai 89ers moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Saga B. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Saga B. will play against Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
