Regular Season Round 4: San-en NP - Niigata A. 85-82

A very close game took place in Hamamatsu between San-en NP and Niigata A.. Eighth ranked San-en NP (2-2) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Niigata A. (2-2). San-en NP managed to escape with a 3-point win 85-82 in the fight for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Niigata A.. San-en NP made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and German center Elias Harris (203-89, college: Gonzaga, agency: BeoBasket) who added 11 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Hungarian-American Rosco Allen (208-93, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: Arizona St.) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five San-en NP and four Niigata A. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. San-en NP moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 8 other teams including defeated Niigata A. San-en NP will meet league's leader Hiroshima D. on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Niigata A. will play against Hokkaido L. (#10) in Saporro and hope to secure a win.
