Regular Season Round 3: Shinagawa - Okayama 56-117
Date: October 9, 2021
Not a big story in a game when Shinagawa (0-3) was outplayed at home by Okayama (1-0) 117-56 on Saturday. Okayama dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Shinagawa's 32 and had 24 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Shinagawa only scored three points from the stripe. Okayama forced 22 Shinagawa turnovers and outrebounded them 45-20 including a 34-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Shinagawa's players. It was a great evening for American forward Chris Olivier (202-92, college: OK State) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Nigerian forward Chukwudiebere Maduabum (206-91) helped adding 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Okayama players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Kaleb Bishop (203-97, college: FDU) with 8 points and 6 rebounds and forward Yusuke Suzuki (200-97) scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Okayama will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shinagawa will play again against Okayama (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
