Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Saitama (3-29) was rolled over on the road by fifth ranked Iwate (22-10) 91-66 on Saturday. Iwate looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Canadian forward Erik Nissen (206-95, college: Acadia) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Senegalese forward Bamba Diouf (198-93) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Iwate players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and point guard Kosuke Fukui (172-95) scored 12 points. Saitama's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Iwate maintains fifth position with 22-10 record. Saitama lost tenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 29 lost games. Iwate will face league's second-placed Aisin AW in Aichi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Saitama will play at home against Gifu (#7) and hope to win that game.
