Regular Season Round 60: Sendai 89ers - Gunma 93-80

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Gunma (50-4) on the court of fourth ranked Sendai 89ers on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Sendai 89ers 93-80. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Gunma. Sendai 89ers made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Gunma 42-22 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and forward Hayato Kantake (194-86) who added 20 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Reiya Nozaki (185-95) with 8 points and 9 assists and point guard Fumiya Sato (170-90) scored 17 points. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sendai 89ers maintains fourth position with 32-23 record. Gunma at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost.
