There was a minor upset in Tokyo where 6th ranked Toyota Alvark (30-20) was defeated by eighth ranked Yokohama BC (16-37) 82-78 on Wednesday. Yokohama BC looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) who scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import power forward Reginald Buckner (206-91, college: Ole Miss) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. American forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: WVU) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Greek DeShaun Thomas (201-91, college: Ohio St.) added 17 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Yokohama BC maintains eighth position with 16-37 record. Loser Toyota Alvark keeps the sixth place with 20 games lost. Yokohama BC will meet higher ranked Chiba J. (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Toyota Alvark will play against Akita Northern Happinets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
