Regular Season Round 56: Ryukyu GK - Nagoya DD 85-87

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Ryukyu GK (38-13) in Okinawa on Wednesday night. Hosts were edged by second ranked Diamond Dolphins (31-23) 87-85. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Diamond Dolphins made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) who added 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. American power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and the former international swingman Keita Imamura (191-96) scored 15 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Diamond Dolphins maintains second position with 31-23 record having four points less than leader Tochigi B. Ryukyu GK at the other side still keeps top place with 13 games lost. Diamond Dolphins are looking forward to face Shinshu BW (#8) in Nagano in the next round where they are favorite. Ryukyu GK will play at home against Kyoto H. (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
