Regular Season Round 9: Sagesse - Anibal 108-72

Bottom-ranked Anibal (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 108-72 loss to fifth ranked Sagesse (4-1) in Beirut on Tuesday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Anibal's 30. Sagesse forced 28 Anibal turnovers and outrebounded them 50-30 including a 23-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was international point guard Ali Mezher (182-94) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. Christophe Khalil chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Simon Daoud (182-85) who recorded 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Tarek Mitri added 19 points (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!) respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sagesse moved-up to third place. Anibal at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Sagesse's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Al Riyadi.
