Regular Season Round 8: Al Riyadi - Byblos 121-48

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Al Riyadi as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al Riyadi smashed 8th ranked Byblos in Beirut 121-48. Al Riyadi held Byblos to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 58.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Al Riyadi forced 20 Byblos turnovers and outrebounded them 59-28 including a 45-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Byblos' players. International guard Karim Zeinoun (188-99, agency: BIG) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals. Swingman Mark Khoury (196-98) contributed with 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. Bechara Boustany replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds and Mohamad Skaf added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Byblos. Byblos' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Al Riyadi have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Byblos at the other side keep the eighth place with four games lost. Byblos will play next round against strong Champville trying to get back on the winning streak. Al Riyadi will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Homentmen. It will be extra interesting game as Homentmen is their local rival from Beirut.
