The game in Yamagata was also quite interesting. Second ranked Ibaraki R. (36-13) played at the court of 6th ranked Yamagata (26-27). Ibaraki R. did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 90-71 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Yamagata. Ibaraki R. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Yamagata's 38 and made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Yamagata 38-24 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ibaraki R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) helped adding 18 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) responded with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Lance Goulbourne (203-89, college: Vanderbilt) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Ibaraki R.. They maintain second place with 36-13 record behind leader Gunma. Loser Yamagata dropped to the fifth position with 27 games lost. Ibaraki R. will have a break next round. Yamagata will play again at home against the league's second-placed Ibaraki R. (#2) and hope to win that game.
