Regular Season Round 27: Almat.Legion - Aktobe 49-85
Date: April 6, 2021
Bottom-ranked Aktobe managed to get the third consecutive victory on Tuesday night. This time newly promoted Aktobe outleveled fifth-ranked Almat.Legion in Alma-Ata 85-49. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 36-point difference proves that Aktobe was well-prepared to that game. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Aktobe forced 20 Almat.Legion turnovers and outrebounded them 48-37 including 42 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Kent Hanson (198-97, college: Carleton) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds. Russian Vladislav Gusak (202-95) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Point guard Daniil Severgin (178-5) came up with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Nikita Timofeev (199-98) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Almat.Legion in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Aktobe. Newly promoted Aktobe maintains sixth place with 6-21 record. Almat.Legion lost their fourteenth game in a row. Almat.Legion at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with 20 games lost. Aktobe will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Almat.Legion will play again against Aktobe (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
