Regular Season Round 18: Nift Al-Shamal - Al Naft 66-99

Superleague top team - Al Naft (13-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Nift Al-Shamal (3-9) in Kirkuk 99-66. They outrebounded Nift Al-Shamal 44-24 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international center Ihab Al-Zuhairi (209-98) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Abdullah Abdullah (187-0) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Five Al Naft players scored in double figures. Al Naft had such big advantage that coach felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 10 players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Ali Sewari who recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds and guard Bahaa Sabri (170-95) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Al Naft have an impressive 13-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-0 record. Newly promoted Nift Al-Shamal keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. Al Naft's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Baghdad Al Kahraba.
