Regular Season Round 41: Sea Horses M. - Shinshu BW 83-78

Everything went according to plan in Kariya where second ranked Aishin Sea Horses (27-14) beat 7th ranked Shinshu BW (15-26) 83-78 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Aishin Sea Horses looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American power forward Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) stepped up and scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and the former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) chipped in 25 points. American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: WSU, agency: Wasserman) responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Aishin Sea Horses maintains second place with 27-14 record having just three points less than leader Tochigi B., which they share with Toyama G. Newly promoted Shinshu BW dropped to the sixth position with 26 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face again Shinshu BW (#7) in Nagano in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
