A very close game took place in Hitachinaka between Hitachi Cougars and Fujitsu RW. Third ranked Hitachi Cougars (10-5) got a very close home victory over their biggest opponent Fujitsu RW (11-4). Hitachi Cougars managed to escape with a 1-point win 72-71 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Fujitsu RW. The former international center Rika Tanimura (185-93) fired 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Shirashi Ikuri (172-94) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Hitachi Cougars players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Mio Shinozaki (167-91) produced 22 points and the former international power forward Monica Okoye (182-99) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Hitachi Cougars maintains third place in East with 10-5 record having eleven points less than leader Toyota A. Loser Fujitsu RW keeps the second position with four games lost. Hitachi Cougars will again meet at home league's second-placed Fujitsu RW in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fujitsu RW will have a break next round.
