Regular Season Round 7: Kanazawa - Saitama 74-71

Bottom-ranked Saitama (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 74-71 loss to eighth ranked Kanazawa (5-7) in Ishikawa on Friday evening. Kanazawa outrebounded Saitama 38-27 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international forward Kohei Takahashi (197-96) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points and 9 rebounds. Kotaro Suda (184-95) helped adding 12 points. At the losing side Jo Yoshikawa (178-95) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and swingman Eric McArthur (192-96) scored 9 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Kanazawa maintains eighth place with 5-7 record. Loser Saitama still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Kanazawa will meet at home league's second-placed Iwate in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Saitama will play against the league's leader Toyoda Gosei (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
