Second Stage Round 6: Karaganda - Okzhetpes 47-55

Okzhetpes' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 19 consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Karaganda, where they defeated Karaganda (7-13) 55-47 on Sunday. They outrebounded Karaganda 52-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Power forward Nadezhda Yakovleva (183-3) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Kamila Amanzholova (163-4) supported her with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Okzhetpes' coach Victoriya Volkova used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Even 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Evelina Borissova (167-99) did not help to save the game for Karaganda. The former international guard Mariya Astapenko (178-89) added 10 points and 4 assists. Okzhetpes maintains eighth position with 1-19 record. Newly promoted Karaganda keeps the seventh place with 13 games lost.
