Very important is a road loss of second ranked Ibaraki R. (25-12) against fifth ranked Rizing (18-21) on Sunday night. Visiting Ibaraki R. was defeated by Rizing in a tough game in Fukuoka 94-102. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ibaraki R.. Rizing made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Ibaraki R. 43-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Gerald Beverly (202-93, college: Daemen) who had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who recorded 13 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rizing maintains fifth place with 18-21 record. Loser Ibaraki R. keeps the second position with 12 games lost. Rizing will meet higher ranked Koshigaya A. (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ibaraki R. will play against Aomori W. and hope to secure a win.
