Regular Season Round 16: Hitachi Cougars - Haneda Vickies 86-72

Rather expected game in Hitachinaka where 5th ranked Haneda Vickies (2-10) were defeated by third ranked Hitachi Cougars (9-3) 86-72. Hitachi Cougars dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Haneda Vickies' 28. 24 personal fouls committed by Haneda Vickies helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for the former international center Rika Tanimura (185-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws). Point guard Hoshi Aka (170-95) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Hitachi Cougars' coach Yabuuchi Natsumi used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Ogasawara Mina (177-97) replied with 18 points and swingman Takano Hashikouta (168-95) added 13 points and 7 assists in the effort for Haneda Vickies. Four Haneda Vickies players scored in double figures. Hitachi Cougars have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in East, which they share with Fujitsu RW. Haneda Vickies at the other side keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Hitachi Cougars' next round opponent will be league's leader Eneos S. in Kashiwa and it will be for sure the game of the week. Haneda Vickies will play at home against the league's second-placed Fujitsu RW (#2) and hope to win that game.
