Regular Season Round 36: Kagawa FA - Yamagata 96-99

Important game to mention about took place in Takamatsu. Sixth ranked Yamagata (17-19) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging their close opponent Kagawa FA (15-21) 99-96 in the fight for the fifth place. Yamagata players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The winners were led by American forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) who scored that evening 24 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Keith Clanton (205-90, college: UCF) supported him with 8 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. Yamagata's coach Miodrag Rajkovic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 36 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) did not help to save the game for Kagawa FA. Point guard Takayuki Kodama (166-92) added 23 points and 5 assists. Yamagata moved-up to fifth place. Kagawa FA lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 21 games lost. Yamagata will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kagawa FA will play again at home against Yamagata (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
