Regular Season Round 33: Kagawa FA - Saga B. 95-86

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Saga B. (19-14) in Takamatsu on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Kagawa FA (15-18) 95-86. They made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Saga B. only scored thirteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Saga B. 39-28 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kagawa FA looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Saga B. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) stepped up and scored 38 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners and point guard Takayuki Kodama (166-92) chipped in 17 points and 7 assists. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international power forward Ryota Nakanishi (199-88) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Kagawa FA and five Saga B. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kagawa FA have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 15-18 record. Saga B. lost fifth consecutive game. They still keep top position with 14 games lost. Kagawa FA are looking forward to face higher ranked Nishinomiya S. (#3) in Hyogo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Saga B. will play at home against Orange Vikings and is hoping to win this game.
