Very important is a road loss of third ranked Almat.Legion (7-9) against fifth ranked Tobol (5-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Almat.Legion was crushed by Tobol in Kostanay 107-75. Tobol dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Almat.Legion's 42. They outrebounded Almat.Legion 58-23 including a 26-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tobol players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Almat.Legion was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for international forward Anton Bykov (200-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Pavel Ilyin (196-92) helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Tobol players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Vadim Korzhov (178-97) with 15 points and 6 assists and guard Stanislav Sahipov (190-2) scored 15 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tobol maintains fifth place with 5-7 record. Almat.Legion lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the third position with nine games lost. Tobol will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Almat.Legion will play on the road against the league's second-placed Astana in Nur-Sultan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
