Regular Season Round 2: Gifu - Iwate 97-94

First defeat of league's leader Iwate against Gifu 97-94 was the most important game of the last round. Gifu made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Iwate outrebounded Gifu 39-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Canadian forward Mamadou Gueye (201-93, college: Alberta) orchestrated the victory by scoring 31 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Ryoya Arakawa (170-95) contributed with 22 points and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Chris Olivier (202-92, college: OK State) replied with 24 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Iwate. Five Gifu and four Iwate players scored in double figures. Iwate's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Iwate will play next round against Aisin AW trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Gifu will try to continue on its current victory against Kagoshima in Renova.
